What's the difference between a home sewing machine needle and an industrial sewing machine needle?

The needle handle of the industrial sewing machine needle is a circular cylinder, and the needle handle of the household sewing machine needle is partially cut off from the circular cylinder, which is convenient for beginners who do not use sewing machines to install.

The standard of sewing machine needles is universal in the world. There are 9, 11, 14, and 16. The smaller the model, the thinner the needle, and the larger the needle, the thicker the needle. No. 9 and No. 11 needles are suitable for thin fabrics (tulle, muslin, thin cotton, georgette, warp knitted fabrics).

Size 14 is suitable for medium fabrics (linen, cotton, serge, double weave, dense tulle).

Size 16 is suitable for thick fabrics (denim, twill, gabardine, coated fabrics, wool fabrics, canvas).

Needle inspection method: Roll the needle on a plane such as a needle plate, glass, etc., and the gap between the needle and the plate should be the same (curved needles cannot be used).

For thin fabrics, use thin threads and needles, and the needle holes will not be too large; for thick materials, use thick needles to penetrate the fabric without damaging the needles.

The needle hole of the needle is the part that carries the needle thread through the sewing material. The processing around the needle hole should be very smooth and uniform, the suture should pass freely through the needle hole, and only this kind of needle will not break the thread when it is used. One of the reasons for frequent thread breakage is caused by the burr of the pinhole. The inspection method is to thread the thread into the pinhole and let the needle slide freely up and down.

There are needle grooves on both sides of the needle hole. One is a long groove and one is a short groove. When the needle passes through the fabric, it can ensure the free movement of the sewing thread. Otherwise, the sewing thread will be squeezed by the sewing material on the side of the needle. 

Material quality of the needle: The inferior needle is very soft, and the needle is easily pulled out of position during sewing. The misalignment of the needle causes the needle to directly touch the needle plate and the needle breaks.

The needle tip should be smooth and free of sharp rust spots, which reduces the needle cutting through the fabric fibers.
